Why go
This exposed southwest outing links three landscapes: salt pans, a beach below the cliffs and the lighthouse outlook above them. Start at the Salt Flats Interpretive Center vicinity on PR-301, the mapped arrival point for the salt-flats stop, and use permitted refuge paths. Drive onward to Playuela only if the access road and parking are open; allow time for the rough approach and the walk from parking. After the beach, climb to Los Morrillos for the broadest view, then retrace the path to your parked vehicle or prearranged pickup for the return. Confirm access before setting out; if the road is closed, choose another day rather than assuming a walk through the refuge.
