German Governor’s Residence Museum
The former governor’s residence below Signal Hill combines an elaborate house with preserved furnishings. It is a separate museum visit from the former government offices on Yishui Road.
The residence reveals the domestic side of colonial authority through its rooms, objects and ambitious building design. Look at the changing roofline and stone exterior before moving to the furnishings displayed inside. This is a concentrated architectural visit that benefits from time to compare details rather than simply viewing the facade.
What to look for
An asymmetrical stone facade and varied roofline
Furnishings retained from the governor’s residence
