The church turns Place Royale's broad origin story into something tangible. Construction began in 1688 over the remains of Champlain's habitation, and the building survived destruction and reconstruction while retaining its old walls. Inside, a surviving chapel tabernacle and a model ship reward a closer look.
What to look for
Dark paving outside marks the footprint of Champlain's second habitation.
The Sainte-Geneviève Chapel preserves the church's only original tabernacle.
A model of the ship Le Brézé hangs inside the compact nave.
