Rio’s Landmarks and Cultural Layers

This collection adds Maracanã, Paço Imperial, Itamaraty Palace, Botafogo, Arpoador, Santa Teresa and Selarón Steps to Rio’s mountains, beaches and centre.

Rio’s Landmarks and Cultural Layers

Why go

This collection is for visitors who want football, civic history and hillside streets to deepen the landmark experience. Maracanã Stadium introduces Rio’s football culture, while Imperial Palace and Itamaraty Palace lead into the older civic centre. From there, Santa Teresa and the Selarón Steps provide a hilly, artistic contrast before Botafogo Beach or Arpoador Beach returns the focus to water. The sequence works best as a choice between the historic-centre-and-hillside strand and the coastal strand. Keep the second strand optional, since combining every stop with Maracanã makes the pace too demanding.
