The full story
Fort Louis rises above Marigot with stone remains and a wide harbor outlook. The steep approach is part of the visit, so allow time for both the climb and the view.
The elevated position makes it easy to understand why the fort guarded Marigot and its warehouses. Walk among the surviving stonework, then look down over the town and waterfront. It is the strongest place to connect the capital's street layout with the coastline you have just explored below.
- Stone fort remains above Marigot
- Harbor and town panorama
Climb in daylight and carry water for the exposed sections.
Use caution on uneven steps and around the fort walls.
