Hellbrunn Landscape
The wider Hellbrunn landscape extends beyond the palace into parkland, a wooded hill and river-side green space. Explore it when you want nature around the formal gardens.
Why go
Hellbrunn makes more sense as a designed landscape than as one building. The geometric water parterre gives way to meadow, woodland and the small Hellbrunner Berg, while historic axes reach toward the Salzach. Use the area to slow down after palace interiors and to connect the zoo, Monatsschlössl and public park paths without treating each as unrelated.
What to look for
Formal palace gardens transition into meadow and wooded hill paths.
Long landscape axes connect the palace grounds with the Salzach floodplain.
Useful to know
Choose a park circuit before setting out; the full Hellbrunn landscape is larger than the palace forecourt.
