Why go
Fisherman's Wharf is defined by fishing boats, crab stands, and the curve of the northern waterfront. Another layer comes from Hyde Street Pier and the bay beyond the commercial blocks. Plan Fisherman's Wharf by remembering to define a short route before entering the busiest streets. After Fisherman's Wharf, choose Hyde Street Pier or North Beach; this keeps Fisherman's Wharf geographically coherent and avoids forcing Fisherman's Wharf into an unrelated crossing.
What to look for
- Look closely at fishing boats, crab stands, and the curve of the northern waterfront.
- Notice Hyde Street Pier and the bay beyond the commercial blocks.
