Kursaal changes the skyline where the river meets the sea. Moneo conceived its two angular forms as rocks stranded at the shore, a striking contrast with the older waterfront across the Urumea. Walk around the open space between them and compare the river mouth with the Zurriola side.
What to look for
Two translucent glass volumes form the building’s distinctive silhouette.
The open platform between the volumes looks toward Zurriola Beach.
The complex sits at the mouth of the Urumea River.
Useful to know
Approach from the river mouth, then continue along Zurriola to see both sides of the building.
