Why go
A train ticket to Seoul does not always mean the same arrival point. Seoul Station connects directly to Lines 1 and 4, Yongsan is close to another Line 1 and 4 connection, and Cheongnyangni sits east of the center. The station determines whether your first transfer is simple or a city-crossing task.
The full story
Seoul’s rail arrivals are distributed across major stations, so the last line of an intercity journey can matter as much as the train itself. Seoul Station is a central landmark and a straightforward rail-network anchor. Yongsan is another major terminal on the western side of the central city, while Cheongnyangni lies farther east. This layout lets trains approach Seoul from different corridors, but it also means that a hotel chosen only for “Seoul” may still be a long ride from the arrival platform. Before departure, check the operator’s current station and onward connection rather than assuming that every high-speed or conventional service uses the same terminal. Once you know the station, use its subway links to plan the first transfer, and leave margin if the accommodation is on the other side of the Han River. The durable lesson is simple: book the train and the arrival station together.
