Manasija
Manasija combines a medieval monastery church with an imposing circuit of defensive walls. Near Despotovac, it is a focused cultural visit with a strong architectural contrast.
The towers reveal the need for protection, while the church and its frescoes show what the enclosure sheltered. The monastery also became associated with the Resava tradition of manuscript work. Looking from the heavy outer defenses toward the church helps connect military insecurity with the preservation of religious and literary culture.
