Skull Tower
Skull Tower is a small, confronting memorial to the aftermath of the 1809 Battle of Čegar. The surviving human remains call for a quiet, considered visit.
The tower makes the violence of the First Serbian Uprising unusually tangible. A chapel now protects the surviving section, so its scale differs from the image suggested by the name. Historical interpretation matters here more than a long visit or a broad collection of objects.
