Žiča
Žiča is a red-painted medieval monastery near Kraljevo, closely connected with Serbian coronations and church history. Its setting makes it an easier approach than many hilltop monuments.
The church's red exterior gives the monastery an immediate identity, but its importance lies in its role as an early archiepiscopal seat. Look for the relationship between the main church, side spaces and surviving wall painting. A short visit can be meaningful without trying to follow every stage of reconstruction.
