By rail to Molsheim, Rosheim and Obernai
Start at Strasbourg station, then use regional trains to walk the historic centres of Molsheim, Rosheim and Obernai in west-to-south order.
Why go
This excursion links smaller Alsatian towns on one rail corridor. Begin at Strasbourg station and ride to Molsheim for its old-town circuit. If connections allow, stop in Rosheim before continuing to Obernai for a longer final stroll; Rosheim is the flexible addition. Outward transfer allowances include waiting for trains and walking between stations and town centres; allow about 15–20 minutes on foot at each end. Check the dated TER timetable before setting out, especially on weekends. Plan from Strasbourg back to Strasbourg: leave time beyond the outward route for the walk to Obernai station, a wait and the return train. Shorten the optional Rosheim stop if needed to stay within your day budget.

Strasbourg station makes an easy architecture stop for arriving travelers: a nineteenth-century façade sits behind a sweeping modern glass shell. View it from the forecourt.
Molsheim rewards a walk through an old town shaped by trade, religion and craft. The Metzig, Porte des Forgerons and former Chartreuse give it a character distinct from Alsace's postcard village squares.
Rosheim's Romanesque church, early stone house and medieval gates make a compact study of older Alsace. Its appeal lies in masonry and town defences as much as timber framing.
Obernai offers an old-town walk anchored by its market square, Halle aux Blés and beffroi. Ramparts add a second circuit beyond the lively civic centre.
