Nantou County
Nantou is Taiwan’s landlocked mountain county, with Sun Moon Lake and higher areas such as Hehuanshan and Xitou. Choose a landscape before choosing a route.
The county’s terrain offers a sharp break from the western city corridor. Sun Moon Lake is its best-known waterside base, while Hehuanshan and Sitou point to different highland experiences. Nantou’s Indigenous history, including Atayal, Bunun and Tsou communities, adds cultural context to the mountain setting.
