The full story
A blue-roofed memorial hall rises above a large public square flanked by the National Theater and Concert Hall. The open space gives the site much of its impact.
Walk the square first, then look back at how the memorial and two performance halls frame it. The setting also tells a later story: the same plaza became a place for public gatherings during Taiwan’s move toward democracy. It is a useful stop for understanding civic Taipei as well as its monumental architecture.
- Blue-tiled memorial hall
- Broad public square and twin performance halls
Cross the square to see the two performance halls as part of the same composition.
