Chihkan Tower
Chihkan Tower layers later Chinese buildings over the site of the Dutch Fort Provintia. It is a compact way to read several periods of Tainan history.
Why go
The original fort established this as an administrative and trading center in the seventeenth century. Later pavilions, temple spaces and stone monuments changed the site’s appearance. Walk the grounds with that sequence in mind: the value lies in the contrast between the surviving traces and the later structures.

Useful to know
Look for the different building layers rather than expecting one intact Dutch fort.
