Tainan Confucius Temple
Taiwan’s first Confucius temple is a quiet historic compound in central Tainan. Its halls recall the city’s early role as a center of formal learning.
Why go
The temple served as an official school as well as a place of ritual. That explains its measured courtyards and sober architecture. It gives a useful contrast to Tainan’s forts and merchant sites: here the story is education and scholarship, not coastal defense or trade.

Useful to know
Walk the courtyards slowly; the building layout is part of the lesson.
