Why go
Taichung provides an urban base, while Changhua and Lukang bring different heritage settings on the western side. Nantou leads inland to Sun Moon Lake and higher mountain areas; Chiayi adds a southern plains city. The region works as a menu of city, port and highland experiences, not a single continuous day route.
Useful to know
- Pair Changhua City with Lukang for a western-plains day.
- Reserve a separate day or stay for Sun Moon Lake; mountain geography changes the pace from the Taichung–Changhua corridor.
