Taroko National Park
Taroko centers on a marble gorge and steep eastern mountains. The landscape is compelling, but safe access to its viewpoints and trails must be checked.
Tectonic pressure transformed ancient limestone into marble, then the river cut the gorge through it. Named sights such as Swallow Grotto, Eternal Spring Shrine and the Tunnel of Nine Turns offer different views of rock, water and human work. The park also carries Truku history, so its name and routes have cultural meaning beyond the geology.
What to look for

Eternal Spring Shrine in the mountain landscape
Useful to know
Check the park’s current road and trail notices before setting out.
Choose accessible viewpoints based on current conditions; the gorge is not one continuous open walk.
Allow for mountain weather and rockfall-related restrictions.
