National Palace Museum
This hillside museum brings imperial Chinese art into a series of galleries. Come for the collection and the palace-style building, but give yourself time to choose what to see.
Why go
The collection spans objects inherited from the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing courts. That range makes the museum rewarding even if you focus on a single material or period. The building is also part of the visit: its ceremonial roof and long approach set it apart from Taipei’s smaller museums.
