Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area
Taipingshan is a highland forest outing with old forestry routes, hot springs and distant lake scenery. Its scale calls for a long visit rather than a quick stop.
Why go
The area’s timber history remains visible in the Bong Bong Train and former logging routes. Forest paths and the road toward Cuifeng Lake offer a different side of Yilan from its lowland coast. Pick a few features for one day; trying to cover the railway, lake and hot spring at once would spread the visit thin.
