Wat Saket and the Golden Mount
Wat Saket’s Golden Mount is reached by a 344 step spiral staircase near Khlong Mahanak. The climb leads to a relic shrine, while temple murals depict Buddhist cosmology.
The climb gives this temple a different rhythm from Bangkok’s flat old town shrines. Follow the spiral staircase toward the upper relic area, then look for murals showing heaven, Earth and hell elsewhere in the complex. The visit works well for travelers who want a temple experience built around movement and several distinct features.
