Wat Si Chum
At Wat Si Chum, the great seated Phra Achana Buddha appears through the narrow opening of a roofless mondop. This concentrated composition is one of Sukhothai’s most striking encounters.
The temple works because the building frames the image so tightly: approach through the open ruins, then let the Buddha’s scale reveal itself inside the mondop. It is a focused stop compared with the wider historical park circuit, and a strong example of how Sukhothai sculpture and architecture were designed to be experienced together.
