Trigonion Tower

Why go

Unlike the larger Heptapyrgion complex, this short stop can punctuate a climb through the Upper Town before the route turns toward the farther fortress. The pair lets you read two very different defensive structures in one walk. Budget enough time to pause here rather than treating it as a waypoint passed in haste.

What to look for

• The cylindrical Tower of the Chain marks the north-eastern fortification and overlooks the lower city.

Useful to know

• Check the monument operator’s current entry arrangements before planning to go inside; the exterior viewpoint still works on a walls walk.
