Arctic–Alpine Botanic Garden
Tromsø’s Arctic–Alpine Botanic Garden displays cold-climate plants beside the university during the snow-free growing season. Its outdoor paths reward visitors most when flowers are in bloom.
The collection places Svalbard species beside alpine plants from several continents, revealing different ways plants survive short growing seasons. Stone ridges and contrasting slopes make those adaptations visible in the landscape. It is a distinctive nature stop on Tromsøya, but the garden closes in winter when plants are dormant under snow.
