La Mandria Regional Park
Beyond Venaria, La Mandria spreads across a large walled landscape of lowland forest and marked paths. Go for open-air time; the historic Borgo Castello inside it is a separate visit.
Why go
The park preserves a rare surviving stretch of the forest that once covered much of the Po plain. Its walking and cycling routes give the former royal hunting reserve a scale you cannot grasp from the nearby palace alone. Choose a gate and route deliberately, since the area extends well beyond a single point on the map.
What to look for
Lowland woodland recalls the older landscape of the Po plain.
Marked walking and cycling routes cross the former hunting reserve.
Borgo Castello is a historic complex within the wider park.
Useful to know
Pick a specific park entrance and trail before travelling; the park has several access points.
Allow separate time for Borgo Castello if you want to see its royal apartments.
Check the park’s official access information for your planned route.
