Using the False Creek Ferries

Small passenger ferries turn False Creek into a scenic transport route linking Granville Island, downtown shores, Vanier Park and Science World.

Using the False Creek Ferries

The full story

The False Creek ferries are both useful transport and a compact sightseeing ride. Two operators serve overlapping but not identical networks of small docks, so check which boat reaches your intended stop before boarding. Granville Island is the main hub; other useful landings connect toward the Hornby Street area, Yaletown, Vanier Park and Science World. A crossing can replace a long walk around the inlet, especially between Granville Island and the downtown shore. Boats are small, and boarding conditions, accessibility and bicycle capacity vary, so travellers with mobility needs or bulky equipment should consult the operator in advance. Service frequency and last departures change with season and weather. Build a ferry into a False Creek walk, but keep a land-based alternative in mind if conditions interrupt service. Tickets and passes are operator-specific; verify the current fare and accepted payment method at the dock or official website.
