Where to Go Out in Vancouver

Granville Street concentrates clubs and theatres, while Gastown, Yaletown, Davie Village and Main Street provide more varied bars, live venues and neighbourhood evenings.

Where to Go Out in Vancouver

The full story

Choose the area by atmosphere before choosing a venue. Granville Street is the city’s densest entertainment strip, with clubs, concert rooms, theatre marquees and energetic late-night crowds. Gastown favours cocktail bars and restaurants in brick heritage buildings; Yaletown leans toward polished lounges and dinner-led evenings. Davie Village carries visible LGBTQ2+ community identity and a mix of bars, clubs and casual gathering places. Main Street and Commercial Drive are better for neighbourhood pubs, smaller music rooms and less concentrated nightlife. Granville Island is primarily an evening destination when a theatre performance or specific restaurant provides the reason to stay after the market winds down. Event calendars, admission policies and closing times change, so verify the venue rather than relying on area reputation alone. On busy weekends, arrive earlier than the peak queue and plan the trip home before the last convenient transit connection.
