False Creek

A sheltered urban inlet edged by seawall paths, neighbourhoods, marinas and small ferries, False Creek reveals Vancouver at water level.

False Creek

Why go

False Creek is less a single stop than a flexible waterfront journey. Walk or cycle the shore for changing angles on downtown, Science World and Granville Island, or use the small ferries to shorten the route. It is ideal when movement and scenery matter more than entering an attraction.

What to look for

  • Continuous waterside sections of the Seaside Greenway
  • Small passenger ferries linking waterfront neighbourhoods
  • Views of marinas, downtown towers and the Expo 86 dome

Useful to know

  • Choose one shore or use a ferry crossing; circling the entire inlet takes much longer than it appears.
  • Keep to marked pedestrian and cycling lanes where the seawall separates traffic.
  • Wind and rain are more noticeable beside the water, so carry a light outer layer.
