Why go

This compact walk suits visitors who want to read Yangon through its civic buildings and public spaces. Sule Pagoda fixes the center of the route; City Hall, Maha Bandula Park and the historic High Court building frame the streets around it. Continue past Immanuel Baptist Church to the Secretariat, where the scale of the complex calls for a slower visit. Pansodan Gallery is an optional final stop if you want art after the architecture. Several buildings on this route are best appreciated from outside, so the day leaves room to look closely rather than treating each facade as a quick photograph.
