Yangon City Hall
See Yangon's working City Hall from Maha Bandula Park for its tiered Burmese-style roofs and detailed facade. Its position beside Sule Pagoda makes the building an easy architectural stop on a downtown walk.
The building combines a civic function with architectural forms more often seen in Burmese religious buildings. Architect U Tin designed its tiered pyatthat roofs, which stand out beside the nearby red-brick former High Court. Look across from Maha Bandula Park to take in the roofline, then compare how the two buildings frame the area around Sule Pagoda.
