Yangon General Post Office
Yangon’s General Post Office is a working colonial-era building on Strand Road. Its brick façade makes a concise stop on a riverfront architecture walk.
The building helps explain how the port city handled communication as trade expanded. Notice the repeated arched openings and entrance canopy from the public street, then continue toward the Custom House and other Strand Road landmarks. Ordinary postal operations should not be treated as an invitation to tour private working areas.
What to look for
Rows of arched windows mark the red-brick façade.
The entrance canopy still identifies a working post office.
Useful to know
View the historic exterior from public space.
Pair it with nearby Strand Road heritage buildings.
