Saint Mary's Cathedral
Saint Mary's Cathedral offers a red-brick Neo-Gothic contrast to Yangon's pagodas and civic buildings. Look for the spires from Bo Aung Kyaw Street; interior viewing depends on worship and current access.
The cathedral's brick spires and bell tower make its religious architecture easy to distinguish from nearby Buddhist landmarks. Dutch architect Joseph Cuypers designed the building, completed at the end of the nineteenth century. If the cathedral is open outside services, the stained-glass rose window and painted interior brickwork add another layer to the exterior view.

Useful to know
Check current visiting arrangements before relying on an interior visit.
Respect services and worshippers; use an exterior view when sightseeing would interrupt them.
