Why go
The neighboring tombs link lives that rarely appear together elsewhere: Queen Supayalat, writer and nationalist Thakin Kodaw Hmaing, former UN Secretary-General U Thant, and Khin Kyi. Their shared setting near Shwedagon makes the garden a compact place to reflect on how royal memory, independence and later public life overlap in Yangon. It is separate from the Martyrs' Mausoleum near Shwedagon's northern gate.
What to look for
- Queen Supayalat's tiered-roof mausoleum
- Thakin Kodaw Hmaing's mausoleum
- The neighboring memorials to U Thant and Khin Kyi
Useful to know
- Verify present access before adding the garden to a Shwedagon visit.
- Use the southern-gate location; the Martyrs' Mausoleum is a different site to the north.
