Why go
The strongest reason to go is the shift from conventional enclosures to immersive habitat zones, especially the Masoala rainforest and elephant park. These spaces reward slow observation and suit families, but the siteʼs scale and slopes make selective planning important. It is separate from the Old Town sightseeing cluster.
What to look for
- Enter the warm, humid Masoala hall for a sharp climate change.
- Watch elephants from several levels around the spacious Kaeng Krachan habitat.
- Notice how planting and sightlines reduce the feel of traditional enclosures.
Useful to know
- Choose priority habitats before arrival; crossing the full grounds takes time and energy.
- Carry a light layer for the contrast between outdoor paths and humid indoor habitats.
