Block of Lights
The block of Lights is a historic block of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, which is surrounded by the streets Bolívar, Moreno, Alsina, Avenida Julio A. Rock (south diagonal) and Peru (the last one follows from the pedestrian street Florida). In it are located the National College of Buenos Aires,San Ignacio's Church, University of Buenos Aires's old building and other historic buildings. It has been named that way for the newspaper The Argos the September 1, 1821, due to intellectual institutions were installed there.
In 1942 was designated as a historical monument of St. Ignatius Church and the Old Board Room of Representatives. In 1943, the National College of Buenos Aires was appointed as Historic Site. In 1981 the Historic Landmark designation was extended to the former Jesuit's Attorney (Peru 272 and Alsina) and former Jesuit Residences (Peru 272/94 and Moreno). In that same year, the whole between the streets Moreno, Peru, Alsina and Bolivar was declared Historic Site.
