The full story
This three-arched Roman gateway leads into Kaleiçi. It is a short architectural stop that also gives a clear starting point for exploring Antalya's old streets.
The gate commemorates Emperor Hadrian's visit in the second century and still reads as a ceremonial entrance to the old city. Look at the arches and their flanking towers before passing through: the towers carry traces of different building periods, so the monument tells more than one chapter of Antalya's history.
- Three Roman arches form the entrance known locally as Üçkapılar.
- The southern Julia Sancta Tower has plain stone blocks.
- The northern tower combines an ancient base with a later upper section.
Use the gate as the start or finish of a Kaleiçi walk.
Allow a short pause on both sides to see the arches and towers as a whole.
