Why go
This west-central driving day replaces the old generic Subak stop with places that make the water system geographically legible. Begin at Taman Ayun, where a royal water temple introduces the institutional side of subak. Continue into the working terraces of Jatiluwih and give them the longest walking block. Pura Ulun Danu Beratan then brings the route to a highland lake associated with water and cultivation below. Bedugul is an optional wider stop rather than another attraction. Allow a full day, carry rain protection and remove the final stop if mountain roads or weather slow the route.
