Why go

Independence Square works well as a pause between the Fairchild Street side of Bridgetown and the bridge crossings. The public park has benches, mature trees, fountains and an amphitheatre beside the Constitution River. Look across the water toward National Heroes Square, then notice the Errol Barrow statue within the park. Its open layout makes it a place to sit as well as pass through. Allow for temporary changes when an event uses the space.

What to look for

  • Fountains and shaded benches.
  • The Errol Barrow statue.
  • River views toward National Heroes Square.

Useful to know

  • Enter from a public street and check for event setup that may change the route.
