Ildefons Cerdà imagined Glòries as a major point in the expanded city, where Diagonal, Gran Via and Meridiana would meet. For much of its later history, traffic infrastructure shaped the place more strongly than public life. The former elevated junction is now replaced by parkland and walking space, with the final phase of the transformation completed in 2025. Rambla dels Encants offers a promenade within the area. This history makes the square more than a patch of green: it is an example of Barcelona reworking an important road junction for people on foot. Look across it toward Torre Glòries and the surrounding cultural and market buildings to see several layers of the city at once. Because the site is broad, pick a nearby anchor rather than navigating to a single map pin. Parts of the park may have their own access conditions.
