Santa Maria del Pi
Santa Maria del Pi offers a quieter Gothic church stop around Plaça del Pi. Its broad single nave and large rose window are the main draw; the tower and other spaces depend on the visit option.
Why go
The church shows Catalan Gothic architecture with little interior ornament competing with the scale of its nave. Its rose window also carries a story of destruction and restoration after the 1936 fire. From the square, compare the plain wall and round window before deciding whether to explore the crypt, museum, garden or bell tower.
What to look for
The large rose window above the main entrance.
The broad, restrained Gothic nave.
The bell tower and other spaces on the cultural visit.
Useful to know
Look at the façade from Plaça del Pi before going inside.
Check which parts of the basilica your chosen visit includes, especially the tower.
