La Salve Bridge
La Salve Bridge frames the Guggenheim with a red artwork and a tall concrete span above the estuary. It is an exposed architectural stop on a riverside walk.
See the bridge from below to read Buren’s bright arch against the museum, then look along the estuary from a safe public viewpoint. The crossing tells a different chapter from the older bascule bridges and shows how public art was added to infrastructure.
What to look for
The early 1970s cable-stayed bridge carries Daniel Buren’s red arch beside the Guggenheim.
Useful to know
Look back at the red arch and Guggenheim from the riverside below the bridge.
