San Antón Church
Beside the bridge on Bilbao's coat of arms, San Antón Church preserves traces of the old town's medieval wall. Its setting makes the interior and riverside worth seeing together.
The church stands at a crossing that mattered to Bilbao's early trade. Near the altar, medieval wall foundations make the older city tangible; elsewhere, Gothic features and later Renaissance details show how the building changed. Step back outside to see why church and bridge became a paired emblem of Bilbao.
