Why go
This route is for visitors drawn to the details of old Bordeaux: church fronts, a former city gate, small squares and streets that invite a slower pace. Start at the abbey church of Sainte-Croix, then move toward the Grosse Cloche and the Saint-Pierre quarter. Place du Parlement and its fountain make a natural pause before the walk turns northwest to Notre-Dame and Porte Dijeaux. Most stops reward looking rather than a fixed-length visit. If you choose to enter a church or the Grosse Cloche, allow more time and check the current visiting arrangements before setting out.
