Pont de pierre
Bordeaux’s first stone bridge crosses the Garonne between the historic left bank and La Bastide. Its arches make the river crossing a sight in its own right.
Built in the Napoleonic era, Pont de pierre changed how the city met the opposite bank. The repeated arches are most striking from the quays, while a crossing gives a shifting view of the river and the old centre. It can anchor a walk between Porte de Bourgogne and La Bastide when current works permit passage.
