Why go
Use this route for a mix of city history, independent stalls and cultural spaces near the water. St John’s gate and the market make a compact Old City opening. The Old Vic is optional unless an exhibition or booked event draws you in. Continue to Arnolfini for contemporary art and M Shed for the working city’s stories. Watershed can be a relaxed pause before the Hippodrome exterior, or a booked screening or show can turn the finish into an evening visit. Check individual venue programmes before setting out; the main route works without timed performances.
