Why go
This compact route suits visitors who want more than a general wander through the Cité. Start by reading the paired towers at Porte Narbonnaise, then step into the School Museum for a quieter look at everyday history. Give the Château Comtal and its rampart circuit the longest part of the day. The western Porte d’Aude offers a different defensive approach before you descend toward Saint-Gimer Church. Every stop is close enough to link on foot, but the castle is a separate ticketed visit. Check the museum, castle and church opening arrangements for your date; the gate stops themselves are exterior pauses.
