Why go
This full-day route suits travelers who want a contrast between central Chengdu and a historic town outside the city. Begin in Chengdu People's Park, where the paths and Heming Teahouse make a relaxed first stop. Walk to Wuhou Shrine Museum, Chengdu and give its temple and museum setting time to register. The final leg to Huanglongxi, Sichuan is a substantial road transfer, so plan it as a separate part of the day rather than another city walk. In the town, follow older lanes toward the river and look for the relationship between the streets and former wharf spaces. Leave a generous buffer for traffic and keep the town visit unhurried. This one-way plan ends in Huanglongxi; arrange a separate return and shorten visits if traveling back the same day.
