Why go
The northern quarters reward a slower walk among squares, church exteriors and the rooms or patios of Palacio de Viana. Start with the garden and Torre de la Malmuerta, then approach Santa Marina on foot. Give the palace the longest visit; it is the main interior stop and a change of pace from the streets. San Agustín and San Lorenzo extend the walk through the church district, with San Lorenzo easy to omit if you want a shorter day. The church stops are planned as exterior views, since access can differ from the palace visit. Check the palace’s current visiting arrangements before you go.
