Colorado State Capitol
The gold-domed Capitol anchors Denver's Civic Center and offers architecture, state history and mile-high markers. A tour adds interior context, though dome access involves stairs.
Start with the west steps, where multiple elevation markers show how the celebrated mile-high point has been measured over time. Inside, the rotunda, stained glass and Colorado stone give the civic building its character. A guided tour is the way to seek the dome view, subject to current tour access.
